A source close to the actress told People that Bullock has ”seen the incredible outpouring of support toward ALS research since Bryan’s passing”.
“It was very important to her that when she and his family made the initial statement of Bryan’s passing, those who were on this journey with her and Bryan, from the beginning, were recognised – with the Healey Center at Mass General leading the way,” says the source.
Randall, who was only 57 at the time of his passing, had suffered from the condition, which is more commonly known as motor neurone disease in Australia, for the last three years.
In lieu of flowers, his family requested donations be made to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital. A spokesperson from the ALS Association later confirmed to People that they “saw an additional $50,000 raised from donors in honour of Bryan and an increase of over 100,000 new visitors to our website”.
The source close to Bullock continued: “She is so grateful to all those who have donated and is happy that out of something so heartbreaking came something so positive for others.”
Randall died on August 5 after a silent battle with the rare neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain, causing loss of muscle control.
According to the Mayo Clinic, it gets worse over time, and while it can be slowed by medicine and therapy, there is no cure. The cause of the disease is unknown.
Randall was a former model and photographer who met Bullock when she hired him to photograph her son Louis’ birthday party in January 2015.

The notoriously private couple dated for eight years, though they never married, with Bullock explaining why in an appearance on Red Table Talk in 2021.
“I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children – three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” Bullock, who is the mother of 13-year-old Louis and 10-year-old daughter Laila, both of whom she adopted.
“I don’t wanna say do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother,” Bullock said at the time.
